Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau undertakes a massive task: counting every person living in the United States — regardless of age, citizenship status, gender, etc. Outside of voting, participating in the census is one of the most powerful things you can do for your community. Your participation helps ensure our community receives its fair share of more than $600 billion in federal funds annually for critical programs that support education, housing, and emergency disaster relief services. Census data determines the number of U.S. representatives each state sends to Congress. It also sets the district boundaries for our congressional, state senator, assembly member, county supervisor, and city council elections.
To assist with the 2020 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau is now hiring for a variety of temporary jobs. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, pass a criminal background check, and be a U.S. citizen. Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
