Applications Now Being Accepted for Boards and Commissions Openings

The City of Campbell is accepting applications for the following Boards and Commissions for terms that expire in August 2021. Pursuant to City Council Policy 1.9b, the City Council invites applications from current commission members and interested citizens.

CIVIC IMPROVEMENT COMMISSION – two terms expire August 31, 2017. The Civic Improvement Commission is composed of seven members who advise the City Council and cooperate with other governmental agencies regarding issues related to cultural needs, health and welfare services, beautification, environment, library needs, historical needs and problems of youth and senior citizens. The Civic Improvement Commission identifies community needs and problems within the scope of concerns assigned to the Commission. Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of City Hall. In addition to the regular meetings, study sessions are held periodically. To be eligible for appointment on this volunteer advisory commission, applicants must reside within Campbell City limits and be at least eighteen years of age.

PLANNING COMMISSION – three terms expire August 31, 2017. The Planning Commission is composed of seven members who advise the City Council regarding a full range of development-related issues, including amendments to the City’s General Plan and Zoning Ordinance. Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber of City Hall. In addition to the regular meetings, study sessions are held periodically. Additionally, members are periodically asked to serve on Planning Commission committees, including the Site and Architectural Review Committee. Applicants should give full consideration to the time commitment required for service on this commission. Eligibility Requirement: Campbell resident and at least 18 years of age.

RENTAL INCREASE FACT FINDING COMMITTEE – One Tenant Representative and one Landlord Representative terms expire August 31, 2017. The Committee is composed of five members selected by the City Council to assist in resolving disputes which are presented to the City by petition. The Committee is composed of two tenant representatives, two landlord representatives, and one neutral representative who shall act as Chairperson. A tenant member shall not participate in a proceeding involving a landlord from whom he or she rents residential property. Members shall serve without monetary remuneration. Tenant applicants must be a tenant and live within the Campbell City limits. Landlord applicants must own rental property in the City of Campbell. Meetings are held as needed. There is also a tenant position that is currently vacant.

The selection process will take place during July 2017.
